Short answer

On October 23, 2026, Grok Imagine released Episode 1 of an AI-made “Odyssey” series on X. It runs just over seven minutes, was made with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, and covers the Greeks arriving at Troy. It is a first step toward the full-length film Elon Musk promised in July, not the finished movie.

What was released

The Grok Imagine account posted the episode on X and asked viewers whether they wanted a full breakdown of how it was made. TeslaNorth reports it was posted in 4K. Musk quote-posted it the same evening with the caption “Odyssey with Grok Imagine,” and Wonder Studios shared it with the line “Homer didn’t have Grok… we do.” More episodes are expected, but no schedule has been announced.

Why it matters for Grok Imagine

Video models still create short clips, often under a minute each. A seven-minute episode means many clips were generated, kept consistent and edited together, with a human director and studio doing the storytelling. That makes it one of the longest showcases of Grok Imagine so far. It also shows where the tool is today: good at striking shots, harder to use for long, coherent scenes without a lot of human work.

The background: Musk’s July promise

On July 22, 2026, Musk posted that Grok Imagine would make a full-length movie of The Odyssey before the end of the year, and that it would be historically accurate. The post followed his public criticism of Christopher Nolan’s live-action The Odyssey, released in July. Episode 1 delivers on that promise only in part, since a series of short episodes is not yet a feature film.

How it was received

Yahoo Entertainment’s headline put it simply: Musk actually followed through. Reviews were less kind about the result: critics pointed to familiar AI video problems, such as overly smooth faces, late-loading backgrounds and thin writing, and noted that only Odysseus is named, which makes the characters hard to follow. Others questioned what “historically accurate” can mean for a story with cyclopes and six-headed monsters.
