Short answer

SpaceXSI lists 56 official example roles for Grok Bot, mostly business work such as sales research, recruiting, QA, expenses and daily digests. Family uses like school email and card statements are user reports, and elder care is not documented at all. Keep sending, buying and deleting behind approval.

Grok Bot use cases at a glance

We sort every use into one of three labels. Official example means SpaceXSI (formerly xAI) names it on its use-case pages, docs, changelog or marketplace. User report means people describe doing it, but SpaceXSI does not. Not documented means we found no example at all. Labels are as checked on October 18, 2026.

Business use cases

The official use-case page lists 56 example roles in 9 groups, and nearly all are work roles. These are the ones people ask about most.

Sales and lead triage

Official example. The Sales Outbound role researches accounts overnight, scores contacts and drafts email and LinkedIn messages for review. SpaceXSI’s docs say its nightly routine should stop at a review list and never send or enroll anyone. Related roles include Pipeline Analyst, which flags stalled deals, Inbox Manager, which sorts mail and flags urgent threads, and Ticket Triage Specialist, which drafts support replies only. The Outbound Prospecting template does similar work and sends nothing without approval.

Recruiting

Official example. Talent Scout sources candidates, drafts outreach and handles scheduling after approval. Hiring Screener scores applications against a bar you set. In the marketplace, Recruiting Coordinator schedules interview loops without emailing candidates unless you approve, and Talent Discovery finds candidates who are not already in your tracking system.

QA and bug reproduction

Official example. Bug Reproduction turns a bug report into a repro pack from a staging environment. Playtest Operator drives the interface to test product paths. The QA bot and Startup QA Bot templates run checks on live builds. The docs say to share test logins through a secure handoff, not in chat.

Expenses, invoices and QuickBooks

Official example. Expense Manager builds weekly expense summaries, logs receipts from email and reminds owners about missing categories. Invoice Coordinator tracks invoices and nudges owners on open items. A QuickBooks Online connector was added on October 11, 2026, though the changelog does not say what it can do. The docs say Expense Manager should not send messages or change reimbursements. Full bookkeeping is not an official example.

Chief-of-staff summaries

Official example. Chief of Staff summarizes Slack, email, calendar and notes against your priorities, with links back to sources. The docs say it should not send messages or change meetings. Daily Briefing Writer and Status Report Writer are lighter versions.

Personal and family use cases

Official pages lean toward business. A small “Life & Leverage” group and the Personal template category cover home life.

Subscription cleanup

Official example. Subscription Cleaner finds unused subscriptions and unsubscribes from the ones you approve. Cancelling free trials is not mentioned officially. User report: one publisher has described a bot that tracks when trials expire.

Shopping with approval

Official example. Since August 28, 2026, a Bot can request a purchase through Stripe Link, and you choose Allow or Deny before the payment completes. Saved Link wallet cards followed on September 1, and X Money on October 11. Travel Coordinator confirms with you before booking, and Apartment Scout applies only for listings you choose. Crypto Briefing reported that each approved payment uses a single-use card and that the feature launched in the US only. Do not send photos of payment cards in chat; use the approval flow instead.

School email

User report. The featured Tradbot template has been described by its publisher as turning school emails into updates about her kids. SpaceXSI does not describe this use. The official Inbox Manager role, which sorts email and drafts replies, is the closest example.

Card statements

User report. Some X users describe having a Bot read months of card statements and flag charges to dispute. We could not verify these posts. The Credit Card Max template tracks card credits and recurring charges, and bank and brokerage connectors now ask before sharing that data elsewhere.

Elder care

Not documented. We found no official example, no template and no credible user report of Grok Bot being used for elder care. If a family tries it, a person must stay in charge: check everything it produces, keep health and money decisions with people, and require approval for anything it sends or buys.

What to keep human-approved

Grok Bot has a documented approval system. Use it deliberately.

  • Approval cards show the action and its inputs, with Allow once, Always allow or Deny.
  • Ask first rules always stop matching actions, and they win over rules that allow actions automatically. Team admins can lock rules.
  • Routine approvals expire. Requests from routines, triggers or other Bots expire after about 10 minutes, and the action does not run.
  • Group chats do not show approval requests. Approvals happen in one-to-one chats.
  • Passwords, two-factor codes, CAPTCHAs and payments are handed to you with a take-over control.

SpaceXSI’s docs list the actions to keep behind explicit approval: sending messages or invitations, publishing, purchases and transfers, deleting or overwriting data, changing permissions, production changes and accepting legal terms. They also advise narrow rules and starting with read-only tasks and drafts.

Our rule of thumb: let a Bot research, sort and draft freely. Make it ask before anything leaves your account, costs money or cannot be undone.

Questions people ask

What is Grok Bot best used for?

Its official examples center on repeat work: researching sales accounts, sourcing candidates, reproducing bugs, summarizing expenses and writing daily digests. Most stop at a draft for you to review.

Can Grok Bot cancel my subscriptions?

The official Subscription Cleaner role finds unused subscriptions and unsubscribes from the ones you approve. Cancelling free trials is not an official example.

Can Grok Bot buy things for me?

Yes, through Stripe Link and, since October 11, 2026, X Money. You approve or deny each purchase request before it completes. Check Grok Bot limits for known problems.

Can Grok Bot help care for an elderly parent?

We found no official example or credible report of this. Any such use needs close human oversight, with people making health and money decisions and approving everything the Bot sends or buys.
