Short answer

You get Grok Bot with the older Cursor Pro ($20), Pro+ ($60), Ultra ($200) and Teams plans, or with X Subscription Premium ($30), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200). The Free and $8 Plus tiers do not include it. Old Cursor plans are no longer sold to new customers, but you can keep yours. Switch if you code mostly with Grok models: you get at least twice the Grok coding usage. Stay if you rely on Claude or other third-party models, because switching ends their included usage. The switch cannot be undone.

What happened with Cursor, in simple terms

Cursor is an app that helps people write computer code with AI. Grok is the AI assistant made by SpaceX’s AI company, and Grok Bot is its helper that can do tasks for you. In August 2026, SpaceX bought Cursor. Soon after, paying for Cursor also got you Grok Bot.

Then, on October 12, 2026, the old Cursor plans were replaced for new customers by one bundle called The X Subscription: a single monthly payment for Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and perks on X (formerly Twitter). If you already pay for Cursor, you can keep your plan at the same price, or move to the bundle. The bundle gives you more Grok for your money, but AI models from other companies, such as Claude, cost extra. Think of a phone company merging its plans: your old plan keeps working, but new customers only see the new bundle.

How Cursor and Grok Bot fit together

Grok Bot is SpaceXSI’s AI agent: Bots that handle email, research, scheduling and other tasks for you. Cursor is an AI code editor with coding agents. They are different products, but they now belong to the same company: SpaceX’s acquisition of Cursor closed on August 14, 2026.

That is why “Cursor Grok Bot” is a thing. Since August 26, 2026, Cursor’s paid plans have included Grok Bot, which made Cursor Pro at $20 a month the cheapest way in. On October 12, 2026, SpaceXSI launched The X Subscription, one plan that bundles Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium. New customers now start there, and the cheapest plan with Grok Bot is Premium at $30.

On The X Subscription, Grok Bot, the Grok apps, the Grok tab on X and Cursor all draw from one shared weekly usage pool. A long coding session in Cursor leaves less for your Bots that week, and the reverse.

Old Cursor plans vs The X Subscription

Here is every plan that matters for Grok Bot and Cursor, as listed by Cursor and SpaceXSI on October 26, 2026.

PlanPrice / monthGrok Bot?Grok models in CursorClaude, GPT and other third-party models
Cursor Pro (old)$20Yes, smallest weekly allowanceMonthly Cursor Models poolIncluded pool, used at API prices
Cursor Pro+ (old)$60Yes, more than ProMonthly Cursor Models poolIncluded pool, used at API prices
Cursor Ultra (old)$200Yes, highest allowanceMonthly Cursor Models poolIncluded pool, used at API prices
Cursor Teams (old)$40 or $120 per userYesMonthly Cursor Models poolIncluded pool, used at API prices
X Subscription Free$0NoStarter allowanceNot available
X Subscription Plus$8NoBase weekly pool, fixed settingsNot available
X Subscription Premium$30Yes4x PlusPay from first use (API list prices)
X Subscription Super$100Yes15x PlusPay from first use (API list prices)
X Subscription Ultra$200Yes50x PlusPay from first use (API list prices)

Neither company publishes pool sizes in absolute numbers, only multiples. SpaceXSI says each X Subscription plan gives at least twice as much coding usage with Grok models as the comparable Cursor plan. Premium also includes the benefits of SuperGrok and X Premium+, which SpaceXSI says used to cost $90 a month combined with Cursor Pro.

Watch the names: Cursor’s old Ultra plan and the X Subscription Ultra plan both cost $200, but they are different plans. For the full Grok Bot plan list, including the free trial credit, see Grok Bot pricing.

Should you switch from your old Cursor plan?

It depends on which models you code with. A quick guide:

  • You code mostly with Grok models and use Grok Bot: switching usually pays. Premium costs $10 more than Cursor Pro, but gives at least twice the Grok coding usage plus SuperGrok and X Premium+ perks.
  • You rely on Claude or other third-party models: stay for now. Legacy plans include a monthly pool for third-party models. Cursor says that after the switch, “third-party models stop being included”, so every Claude request is paid from prepaid credit at API list prices.
  • You use GPT models in Cursor: OpenAI has said it will stop serving its models to Cursor, with a proposed shutoff date of November 12, 2026. Do not pick a plan around GPT.
  • You only want Grok Bot, not Cursor: Premium at $30 is the cheapest plan that includes it.
  • You run a team: Premium, Super and Ultra cost the same per seat for teams, and SpaceXSI says teams get 3x the coding usage of old Cursor Teams at a lower per-seat price. Existing teams can still add seats without switching.
Before you switch

Cursor says the switch is permanent: it cannot be undone, and Support cannot reverse it. A linked SuperGrok or X Premium+ plan is also permanent once linked to a Cursor account. Check your usage split between Grok and third-party models first.

How to switch from Cursor to The X Subscription

  1. Check your usage. Look at how much of your monthly usage goes to Grok models versus Claude or other third-party models.
  2. Open the Unify option. Use the Unify option in Cursor or Grok, or go to cursor.com/unify from Cursor or accounts.x.ai/unify from Grok or X. Teams use cursor.com/unify/team.
  3. Pick a primary account. If you have several Cursor accounts, you choose one as the primary and the others are merged into it. This is not available for every account.
  4. Choose a plan and check out. Your old Cursor, SuperGrok and paid X Premium subscriptions are cancelled at checkout, with an automatic prorated refund for unused time. A new billing cycle starts that day. Limited-time switching offers may appear in your billing settings.
  5. Set up extra usage. At grok.com/dashboard you can buy credit, turn on auto top-up and set a monthly limit, which also covers third-party models in Cursor.

Paying through the Apple App Store? Cursor cannot cancel or refund that subscription. Cancel it in your iPhone or iPad settings and ask Apple for any refund.

Does Cursor support Grok models?

Yes. As of October 2026, Cursor lists Grok 4.7, Grok 4.6 and Grok 4.5, each in a standard and a Fast version, plus Cursor’s own Composer 2.5. So if you are looking for Cursor with Grok 4.6, it is still there, though Grok 4.7 is the newest. Once your pool runs out, Grok 4.7 costs $2 input and $6 output per million tokens.

On Plus, Grok runs at fixed settings in Cursor. Fast mode and effort levels need Premium or higher, or a legacy Cursor plan. Our Grok in Cursor guide covers every model, price and context window, and our Grok 4.7 guide covers the model itself.

Grok Build vs Cursor

Grok Build is SpaceXSI’s coding agent for the terminal. Cursor is a full code editor with agents built in. Both run the same Grok models, and on The X Subscription both draw from the same weekly pool. Grok 4.7 Fast is only available in these two.

Pick Cursor if you want an editor. Pick Grok Build if you live in the terminal. Wondering how either compares with Grok Bot itself? See Grok Bot vs Grok Build.

Questions people ask

Is Grok Bot included with Cursor Pro?

Yes. Older Cursor Pro, Pro+ and Ultra plans and Cursor Teams include Grok Bot with a weekly usage allowance. Pro has the smallest allowance and Ultra the largest.

Does the $8 Plus plan include Grok Bot?

No. On The X Subscription, Grok Bot starts at Premium ($30 a month). Free and Plus do not include it.

Do I have to switch from my old Cursor plan?

No. Cursor says your legacy plan, price and features continue unless you change or cancel. No end date has been published.

Can I undo the switch to The X Subscription?

No. Cursor says the switch is permanent and that Support cannot undo it for you.

Do I get a refund when I switch?

Yes, for most people. Your old Cursor, SuperGrok or X Premium subscription is cancelled at checkout with an automatic prorated refund for the unused time. Subscriptions paid through the Apple App Store are the exception: you cancel those in your iPhone or iPad settings and ask Apple for any refund.

Can I still use Claude in Cursor on The X Subscription?

Yes, on Premium and higher. Third-party models such as Claude are not part of your plan, so they are billed at API list prices from the first use and paid from prepaid credit.

Does a linked SuperGrok plan add to my Cursor Grok Bot usage?

No. The two do not stack. Grok Bot uses whichever one gives you more weekly usage.
