Short answer

Grok launched in US Teslas on July 12, 2025 and has since reached Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, parts of Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Chile, with the Middle East announced in September 2026. It is not available in China.

Where it stands in October 2026

Grok is available in the United States, Canada, most or all of Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, several Southeast Asian markets, Hong Kong and Chile, and is rolling out in parts of the Middle East. Tesla does not publish a single official country list, so if your country is borderline, check Tesla’s support page or your release notes.

Unconfirmed: one store blog listed India for July 2026; we found no major news source confirming it. Malaysia blocked the Grok app in January 2026 over deepfakes, yet in-car Grok was reported there in mid-2026; we could not confirm whether the block was lifted.

Why not China?

Tesla China uses Chinese AI models instead: DeepSeek for conversation and ByteDance’s Doubao for car control, with the wake phrase “Hey, Tesla”. Reporting suggests local regulation is the reason, though Tesla has not said so directly.

Features can differ by country

Launches do not always include every feature. Japan’s first version did navigation, search, reminders and manual questions but not climate or media control. Personalities also vary by market, and some Grok Bot features, such as tagging @bot on X, are not offered in the EU, UK or Australia.

Is Grok available in Tesla in the UK?

Yes. The UK was part of the European launch on February 16, 2026.

Is Grok available in Tesla in Australia?

Yes, since February 2026, for AMD-based cars with Premium Connectivity or Wi-Fi.

Will Grok come to Tesla in China?

Nothing announced. Tesla uses DeepSeek and Doubao there.
