Where Grok tends to win
- What is happening right now on X. Grok reads X directly, so it is quick at summarizing breaking conversations.
- Value bundle. If you already want X Premium perks or write code in Cursor, one Grok plan covers all three.
- Agent on a mid-priced plan. Grok Bot comes with the $30 Premium tier, while OpenAI puts its always-on agent on its top Pro plan.
- Long documents. Grok 4.7 reads about 500,000 tokens in one go.
- Developer price. Grok 4.7’s API costs $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output. SpaceXAI’s own comparison puts a GPT-5.6 model at $4 and $20 (the comparison is the vendor’s, so check current prices).

- Track record and polish. ChatGPT has been around longer, with a huge ecosystem of guides, custom GPTs and integrations.
- Fewer controversies. Grok’s image tools were at the center of a deepfake scandal in early 2026 that led to restrictions and investigations.
