Submit a Grok Bot plugin or MCP connector, step by step

A walk-through of the official submission form, the logo spec, testing and the Publisher Terms, plus what SpaceXSI still does not say about review.

Short answer

To submit a Grok Bot plugin, fill in the official form at x.ai/bot/marketplace/submit-a-plugin. It takes a plugin or MCP server, asks for a 1:1 SVG or PNG logo, an MCP server URL or public GitHub repo and testing instructions, and requires agreeing to Publisher Terms hosted on cursor.com. No review criteria, timeline or revenue share are published.

What the form accepts and where listings appear

SpaceXSI (formerly xAI) takes third-party submissions through one official form at x.ai/bot/marketplace/submit-a-plugin. It accepts two kinds of entry: a plugin or an MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI agent call outside tools and data, so an MCP server is the piece of software that exposes your service to a Bot.

The form lets you pick where the listing should appear. There are three options:

  • Grok Bot, where users browse connectors under Connect Apps.
  • Cursor, the code editor that SpaceX bought in August 2026.
  • Grok, which the form marks “coming soon”.

The public web page of the Grok Bot marketplace shows only templates. Connectors are browsed inside the app. Press reports say public submissions opened around October 15-16, 2026; the official changelog had not yet logged that release when we checked on October 18.

The form, field by field

These are the fields on the official form when we checked on October 18, 2026. The notes column is GrokMag advice, not SpaceXSI wording.

Testing confirmationA box confirming you tested locally and in-appRequired; do the tests before ticking it

The form asks for a square (1:1) logo as an SVG or PNG file, placed on a background plate. We read “background plate” as a solid shape behind the mark, rather than a transparent cutout that could disappear on a dark or light screen. Host the file at a stable URL, because the form takes a link, not an upload.

Marketplace listings show a short, one-line description. Lead with the task, not the brand: “Reads and updates Trello boards” tells a user more than a tagline does.

MCP server URL or public GitHub repo

The form asks for one of two things:

  • An MCP server URL if you run a hosted, remote server that a Bot connects to over the internet.
  • A public GitHub repo if your plugin or server is published as open code.

SpaceXSI does not say whether reviewers prefer one over the other. A listing also matters for reach: when someone shares a Bot as a template, custom MCP servers do not copy over, so other users cannot get your server through a template alone.

If your plugin uses a sign-in, test that flow carefully. Since the September 29 update, adding a sign-in plugin starts the sign-in right away.

Testing locally and in-app

The required checkbox covers two kinds of testing: on your own machine and inside the app. A practical pass looks like this:

  1. Install the plugin in your own Grok Bot account, as a new user would.
  2. Run the main tasks from your description with plain-language requests.
  3. Check what happens when a sign-in expires, a request fails or the service is slow.
  4. Confirm that actions which change data trigger the approval prompts users expect. See how Grok Bot works for how approvals behave.
  5. Write the testing instructions as numbered steps, including how a reviewer gets access, such as a demo account or sandbox.

Publisher Terms and review

Submitting means agreeing to Publisher Terms, and those terms are hosted on cursor.com, not x.ai. That fits the product’s setup: Grok Bot uses Cursor accounts and sign-in. Read the terms before you submit.

The form says submissions are reviewed. It does not say:

  • what the review criteria are;
  • how long a review takes;
  • whether there is a fee, a paid placement or a revenue share;
  • how the “Verified” badge on marketplace listings is earned.

We will update this page if SpaceXSI publishes any of this. Until then, treat claims about review times or payouts elsewhere with caution.

Before you submit: a checklist

  • Your plugin or MCP server works end to end in your own Grok Bot account.
  • You have a hosted MCP server URL or a public GitHub repo ready.
  • A square SVG or PNG logo on a background plate is online at a stable URL.
  • Your short description names the task in one sentence.
  • Testing instructions are numbered and include reviewer access.
  • No secrets or keys appear in the repo, description or instructions.
  • You know which surfaces you want: Grok Bot, Cursor, or Grok when it opens.
  • You have read the Publisher Terms on cursor.com.

Once listed, connectors appear alongside the others on our connectors list. To see what Bots already do with them, browse every template.
